“OTs are like MacGyvers.” It’s true - but even OTs can get stumped sometimes! Ever had an unsolved problem for your patients or organization - big or small, individual or collective - that could use a fresh perspective? The Design Thinking & Communication (DTC) course at Northwestern University is seeking challenges faced by you, your organization, or individuals you serve.

What is DTC?

A unique course that blends design thinking with professional communication, partnering student teams with community members to solve diverse challenges through design.

How it works:
- Submit your challenge
- The DTC Program will transform it into a 10-week project
- Receive a comprehensive report and a semi-functional prototype

- Get compensated for your partnership

Past projects include:
- Video game controller for patients with hemiplegia
- Wheelchair anti-tipping rail

- Portable changing table for children with cerebral palsy

Deadline for Winter Quarter: December 6, 2024. Submit your project proposal here!

- Don’t need help right now but want to keep this in mind for the future? The DTC has an ongoing need for projects 3x/year. Reach out to be added to our email blasts!
