The current Board Members have shared some information below about the positions.  We encourage anyone who would like to be involved to consider nominating yourself or others for one of these Executive Board positions. Please send nominations or questions to Hannah Kaytonah, OTR/L, ILOTA Nominations Coordinator. All nominees must provide a Position Statement. (You can view sample Position Statements from the 2024 elections here.) The Position Descriptions for the open positions can be accessed below or requested from the ILOTA Executive Director or Nominations Coordinator. The President-Elect position begins September 1, 2025, but the person elected will not automatically become President until September 1, 2026. The following description is for the President position: Oversees the current and future functions of the organization. Leads the board of directors to move the organization forward and ensuring the organization addresses the needs of the membership across the state. Follows and updates the organizational bylaws to ensure continuity. Networks with the Presidents from neighboring state associations. "The time spent as President-Elect was a wonderful year of mentorship, preparing me for the position of President. As President of ILOTA for the past two and a half years, I have gained extensive knowledge about the issues our profession faces at both the state and national levels. Every day, I grow and learn by working with colleagues in various practice areas to prepare for educational events, including our annual conference and advocacy issues important to all OT Practitioners in the state. I especially enjoy spending time with State Presidents during AOTA Inspire, which helps me realize what we have in Illinois as a membership organization. It motivated me to return and continue to help grow our organization in new directions. The position of President does require time each week, and the nice thing is that I have support all around me, so it is manageable.

Oversees the advocacy of Occupational Therapy within the state seeking out barriers facing our profession including public policy and reimbursement. Collaborate with AOTA and state lobbyists to further promote and protect the role of occupational therapy. View Position Description here.

"In my role as Director of Advocacy, I have the opportunity to advocate for the profession of occupational therapy through legislation that directly impacts practice.  Through collaboration with practitioners across practice, research and education areas, changes in policy and reimbursement have been successful.  While the role requires good organizational, time management and decision making skills, it can be supported by our lobbyist, passionate leaders and volunteers.
