Job Summary

 

Fox College, located in Bedford Park is looking for an experienced, highly competent full-time occupational therapy assistant instructor. The job requires strong people skills, sound knowledge of occupational therapy clinical skills, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

 

  • Develop and deliver assigned courses in a method that is student-centered
  • Measure student outcomes against very specific objectives in the areas of clinical skills as well as professionalism
  • Promote intellectual inquiry and critical thinking
  • Utilize current technology as a foundation for learning
  • Provide prompt, quality feedback and mentorship to students
  • Contribute to committees for ongoing improvement
  • Establish positive relationships with students to promote their success
  • Establish positive relationships with faculty to promote success of the program
  • Promote and continue the mission of the college

 

Qualifications and Skills:

 

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree (Masters’ preferred)
  • Current State Licensure as an OT or OTA
  • Current NBCOT certification
  • Minimum of 5 years clinical experience (preferably across multiple settings i.e., outpatient clinic, pediatrics, hospital, school, EI)
  • Previous instruction experience preferred
  • Expert knowledge of the fields taught
  • Passion for working with individuals across the lifespan
  • Solid classroom management and presentation skills
  • Looking for someone who is highly organized, self-motivated, and detail oriented
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required
  • Candidate should be able to multi-task and work with strict deadlines
  • Model professional behaviors and abide by the AOTA Code of Ethics
