Description: This webinar will focus on the importance of addressing caregivers’ needs and the distinct role of occupational therapy practitioners in providing caregiver support. The two main components of this webinar are an evidence-based PowerPoint presentation and a panel discussion with three occupational therapists from different practice settings. Panelists will discuss their experiences working with caregivers, strategies for working with and educating caregivers, and how occupational therapy clinicians can have a greater impact when collaborating with caregivers.
Course Objectives: By the completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Define “caregiving” as per the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework: Domain and Process (4th ed.)
  2. Identify barriers to integrating caregivers into the intervention team
  3. Discuss strategies to enhance collaboration and build relationships with clients and caregivers
  4. Describe elements necessary for effective caregiver education
  5. Value the expertise of occupational therapy practitioners in addressing the needs of caregivers

Webinar 2: Understanding Ergonomics and its Application to Occupational Therapy Practice

Description: This webinar will include discussion of ergonomics and how they can be applied into OT practice, work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WRMDs), and how practitioners can promote self-management strategies to reduce risk factors and WRMDs. There will also be a panel discussion where a group will talk about their ergonomic project with dental students at local university.
Course Objectives: By the completion of this webinar, participants will:

  1. Explain of work-related risk factors and intensifiers in OT practice.
  2. Discuss how ergonomics links to OT practice and theory
  3. Identify the safe zones in degrees for each region of the body.
  4. Describe self-management strategies to reduce work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WRMDs).
