Description:

Northbrook School District 28 seeks an enthusiastic, experienced, energetic child-centered occupational therapist to work collaboratively with administration and staff to meet the needs of students early childhood through eighth grade. The occupational therapist supports the development of fine motor, sensorimotor, daily living and functional skills within the school setting.

Job Summary:

Applicants should possess:

  • Knowledge and skills in various methods of assessment to support eligibility decision making, intervention plan development, and progress monitoring of students’ motor skills and functional abilities (e.g. perceptual-motor, hand functions, motor coordination, sensory development, muscle strength, etc.)
  • Knowledge and skills in various methods of data collection to support program review and goal setting
  • Consultation and collaboration skills to be a supportive resource on a variety of topics including interventions within and outside of the classroom setting, assistive devices/technology, curriculum access, physical access to learning environments, and activities of daily living
  • Communication skills with students, parents, teachers, other personnel, and outside agencies for the purpose of evaluating situations, solving problems and/or resolving conflicts, and developing plans for service
  • Strong leadership skills to facilitate district's response to intervention framework and conduct professional development with staff and parents
  • Strong teaming skills through the pre-referral and referral process
  • Experience providing individual, small group, and classroom intervention
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices and child development
  • Knowledge of the transition process from Early Intervention
  • The ability to perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the program

Qualifications:

  • Current license from the State of Illinois Department of Financial Regulations
  • Current certification from the Board of Registry of the American Occupational Therapist Association (AOTA)
  • Special education experience preferred
